Family Conversation Starter
We want to help you start a conversation with your kids today about what we learned in church. Every week, you can find an overview of what we learned and discussion questions here. On the way home from church or around the table this week, use these questions to start a conversation together as a family.
In this week’s Bible story from 1 Samuel 8–10 the Israelites looked around at other nations and said, “We want a king, just like them!” Even though God was already their perfect leader, they wanted a human king—so God gave them Saul. But Saul didn’t always follow God’s ways, and the people soon learned that not every king leads well. Kids learned that while people may let us down, there’s one King we can always trust—Jesus. He doesn’t rule like other kings. He’s full of love, truth, and grace.
"Have you ever wanted something just because someone else had it?”
“What makes Jesus a good King to follow?”
