Emergency Relief

When a natural disaster strikes or people are caught in conflict, innocent children and their families have urgent needs. People already experiencing poverty are especially vulnerable. Working with our network of global workers and other partners, we are able to get food, water and other supplies to people in need quickly.

For the majority of our relief efforts we work in partnership with ERDO, our denominational Emergency Relief and Development Agency.

Flooding in Hat Yai, Thailand

Hat Yai, in Southern Thailand, is currently experiencing major flooding, having received 1,390 mm of rain over an eight day period.

Jarren and Cindie, our partner global workers in the city, are helping with providing support for students and families and provide food to support the evacuees. As the waters begin to recede the cleanup work will be enormous and there are many families that have lost nearly everything in the flood.

War in Ukraine

Ukraine has been under attack since February 24, 2022.  This ongoing conflict continues to leave people in desperate need, including access to food, water, medicine and shelter. Though many Ukrainians have started returning home, the trauma and lack of services continues to create challenges.

ERDO is providing practical support through our partners. We are working with local churches in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, ensuring people’s physical and spiritual needs are being met for those living in a warzone or displaced across Ukraine and Europe.

Crisis in Gaza

Over 1.9 million people in Gaza have been displaced and are in urgent crisis, needing food, shelter and supplies. As 92% of homes have been damaged or destroyed, families are seeking refuge in makeshift shelters or tents that do not provide adequate protection. Children are particularly impacted by the conflict in Gaza, losing their homes, family members, and access to food and education. Tens of thousands have lost one or both parents and now find themselves unaccompanied in a war zone having to fend for themselves.
